How avoid back pain
To prevent back pain, one should exercise and in all cases remain
physically active, avoid a sedentary life-style, adopt a positive
mental attitude towards pain and comply with the norms of postural
hygiene in daily activities so that the back bears the least load
possible.
In this section, advice is offered on how to carry out daily activities
(sleeping, bending, weight lifting, getting up, standing, sitting,
etc.) in a manner least harmful to the back. Groups are classified
by population (the elderly, workers, children, and the general public).
The main risks for back pain in each sport are also described. In
general, the risk of suffering back pains may be increased in those
activities which subject the body to vibrations or require movements
of bending-extending and twisting or which require one to maintain
bended or hyper-extended postures. However, there are physical exercises
which help to develop the muscles needed to compensate and alleviate
the adverse effects of such activities and postures.
